The business was started by Charles Nii in the early 1950’s as a regular nursery and expanded to include landscaping services primarily for residential homes.  A family business, when Charles Nii retired, his son Glenn Nii continued expanding the nursery side of the business, specializing in hybrid hibiscus plants dating back to the 1960’s.  He became well-known as a professional hybridizer and has since expanded his varieties of hybrid hibiscus plants to number over 400.

While remaining a small family-owned company, Charles Nii Nursery Inc has acquired an extensive following across not only the United States but internationally as far as India, Japan and throughout Polynesia.
