Building Industry Association of Hawaii

Chartered in 1955, The Building Industry Association of Hawaii is a professional trade organization affiliated with the National Association of Home Builders, representing the building industry and its’ associates. The 450 members of BIA-Hawaii are developers, contractors, suppliers, Realtors, architects, financial institutions and a host of other professionals who serve the building industry. BIA-Hawaii takes a leadership role in unifying and promoting the interests of the industry to enhance the quality of life for the people of Hawaii.

BIA-Hawaii has a legacy of four (4) major signature annual events that are island traditions and draw thousands of attendees. The BIA Home Building & Remodeling Show, held in January at the Blaisdell Exhibition Hall, and the BIA Remodel it Right Expo, held in July at the Hawaii Convention Center, create the opportunity to showcase the latest products and services the entire industry has to offer homeowners. Innovative collaborative seminars and case study presentations, “Meet the Experts” and “Remodel It Right Panels” have generated tremendous interest from the public and the BIA Remodel It Right Expo is a national award winning event. The 22nd Annual BIA Renaissance Building and Remodeling Awards was held in May at the Royal Hawaiian Hotel Monarch Room. This prestigious competition celebrates excellence in construction and design of new and remodeled residential, commercial, kitchen & bath, landscape and historical project entrants. The final 2007 public event, the 51st Annual BIA Parade of Homes, is the premier statewide showcase of new homes in Hawaii, and will educate consumers on the latest trends, technology and design innovations in residential construction the first two weekends in October.

BIA-Hawaii, as part of a firm commitment to serve members and the needs of the marketplace, has taken a leadership role in preparing the new generation of construction workers through the Construction Training Center of the Pacific (CTC). The CTC coordinates the Pre-Apprenticeship Construction Training Program to assist students in readiness to enter apprenticeship training programs within the building trades. A Capital Campaign Committee, dedicated to “Changing Lives, Building a Legacy”, is underway for the construction of a CTC facility. The land is purchased and the campaign goal of an additional $6 million will be for the construction of six classrooms and a Technology & Resource Center that will provide a computer lab, library, meeting rooms and a conference center.

BIA-Hawaii is proud to have supported its members and the community by assisting with the overall coordination of staffing volunteers for Project 501. This is an important project that will benefit our community for years to come and we are happy to have been a part of it.
