AKANA FAMILY AND KEIKI O KA AINA GET EXTREME GIFTS
FROM LOCAL BANKS
**First Hawaiian Bank and Central Pacific Bank Each Donate $10,000
to Keiki O Ka Aina**
HONOLULU Hawai‘i is proving to be the community that just keeps on giving. After receiving a new home and learning center for Keiki O Ka Aina courtesy of ABC-TV’s Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, Brookfield Homes Hawai‘i and hundreds of volunteers from the building industry, Theresa ‘Momi’ Akana and her family were presented with even more special gifts today from Central Pacific Bank and First Hawaiian Bank.
Central Pacific Bank and First Hawaiian Bank each presented Keiki O Ka Aina with a $10,000 donation, which will further the non-profit organization’s mission to support the native Hawaiian community by offering cultural education programs for free to those who would not be able to afford them otherwise. In addition, both financial institutions established the House/Community Center Fund so that members of the community can also help to support Keiki O Ka Aina. Contributions will be collected at all Central Pacific Bank and First Hawaiian Bank branches through June 30, 2007.
“First Hawaiian Bank is proud to support the work of Momi Akana and Keiki O Ka Aina,” said Sharon Shiroma Brown, president of the First Hawaiian Bank Foundation. “Through Keiki O Ka Aina, Momi has touched thousands of people and, with this new learning center, she will have a positive impact on even more lives in this special place we call home.”
“Central Pacific Bank is honored to be a part of this exciting new chapter in the lives of the Akana family and Keiki O Ka Aina,” said Clint Arnoldus, President and Chief Executive Officer of Central Pacific Bank. “This is a powerful example of people from all walks of life coming together and displaying Fiercely Loyal support to the wonderful communities we all live in.”
