HONOLULU (June 8, 2007)  – Residents and visitors alike are invited to witness the marathon building of the Extreme Makeover: Home Edition project on the Akana family home and the Keiki O Ka Aina center this weekend.  Roberts Hawaii will be providing free shuttles from Aloha Stadium to the build site in Kalihi Valley on Friday, June 8, from 3:00 – 8:00 p.m. and from Saturday, June 9 through Wednesday, June 13, from 9:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.  Two shuttles will run regularly between the two sites and free parking is available at Aloha Stadium.

“This is such an amazing project for Hawaii that we wanted to provide everyone the opportunity to see the hard-working volunteers racing to complete these two buildings for the Akana family,” said Neil Takekawa, president of Roberts Hawaii.  “We hope people will take some time out of their weekend to cheer on the volunteers and show the cast and crew of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition the aloha spirit.”

In addition to the free rides for spectators, Roberts Hawaii has been providing round the clock shuttle service for the hundreds of volunteers from the check-in site that Pier 38 and transportation from the airport and hotels for the neighbor island craftsmen joining the project.  They are also providing the vehicle for Extreme Makeover: Home Edition’s signature “move that bus” moment when the new home and the Keiki O Ka Aina center will be revealed to the Akana family for the first time.
